Approximately 1,500 Jo-Carroll Energy members are without power in Galena after a squirrel caused considerable damage to the cooperative’s Commerce Substation early this morning. Crews are onsite with a third crew in route. Restoration should begin around 9 a.m., Buros estimated.
Strong thunderstorms and a possible tornado in Carroll County caused outages throughout Jo-Carroll Energy’s service territory keeping crews busy Sunday afternoon, May 19 and into Monday, May 20. Ten substations were affected during the storms throughout the day.

Several dental, vision and chiropractic providers on this list do not accept the Co-op Connections® discounts and were included by mistake. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. A corrected list of current dental, vision and chiropractic providers accepting Co-op Connections discounts is now available to members.
Crews continue repairs in rural Galena after a squirrel got across an insulator and cross arm, damaging much of the equipment on the pole. Power was restored to all but about 30 members by back feeding. Members will see a blink once repairs are completed and power is restored to its normal feed. We appreciate your patience.
Jo-Carroll Energy members re-elect incumbent directors
An estimated 450 members, employees and friends of Jo-Carroll Energy gathered for an appreciation breakfast and the cooperative’s annual meeting held April 13 in Elizabeth.
The merger of Farmers Mutual Electric Company with Jo-Carroll Energy is on target for a March 31, 2013 completion date.
Friday, March 29 is expected to be the last day of business of the Geneseo co-op as Farmers Mutual. When doors open on Monday, April 1 the location joins Jo-Carroll Energy as its Geneseo office with the same staff and hours as before the merger.
Several Jo-Carroll Energy members have contacted the co-op to ask about the municipal aggregation referendum that is on the ballot for Jo Daviess County residents in April.
While all Jo Daviess County residents, regardless of their current power provider, have the right to vote on this measure, its outcome will affect only those homes and businesses currently served by ComEd. It will have no affect on Jo-Carroll Energy accounts.
Unclaimed capital credits list now available online
In March, Jo-Carroll Energy began publishing the names of members who have unclaimed capital credit checks. You can now access the complete list online.
Aggregation vote does not affect Jo-Carroll Energy members
Voters in Carroll County approved electrical aggregation in the Nov. 6 election. This question asked voters if they wanted Carroll County to act as the agent to seek bids for an alternate retail electric supplier. This issue affects only those living in unincorporated areas of Carroll County and only those receiving electrical service from Commonwealth Edison.
Jo-Carroll Energy members are not affected by the vote.
Jack Graves named Illinois Country Father of the Year
