Summer efficiency & safety

Do the Summer Shift

Doing the Summer Shift means reducing electric use between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on summer weekdays. This helps Jo-Carroll Energy keep rates affordable by purchasing less power when electricity is in high demand and most expensive.

MISO & Max Gen events

Maximum generation - or Max Gen - events are called by MISO, the regional transmission operator, when grid reliability may be at risk. In other words, the amount of electricity on the grid is critically low and may not be able to meet demand.

Summer storms and outages

Safety is our number one priority at Jo-Carroll Energy. We encourage you to also practice safety and preparedness to protect you and your family during storms and all outages.

About Us

Jo-Carroll Energy is a cooperative, founded and built by the members we serve to deliver reliable energy and broadband internet services. Your co-op was founded in 1939 by a group of farmers from Jo Daviess and Carroll counties who needed electricity brought to their farms. These founding members benefitted hundreds and now thousands and paved the way to expansion and progress in our smaller towns and villages.

Today, Jo-Carroll Energy provides a combination of electricity, natural gas and internet to over 26,500 members in Jo Daviess, Carroll, Whiteside and Henry counties. As our membership grows, we strive to deliver safe and reliable electric, natural gas and internet to our members while exceeding member satisfaction and providing excellent member service.
