Crews work overnight to restore power following storms

Jo-Carroll Energy crews worked throughout the night in the wake of storms that hit the area Tuesday and into early Wednesday morning.

Fresh crews continued with a few scattered outages and permanent repairs on Wednesday, according to Karl Thorsen, manager of electric operations.

May 23: Outage affecting Geneseo area

Outage Update:

Power has been restored to members in our Geneseo area. An outage on our transmission provider’s system affected all Jo-Carroll Energy members on our Ladwig and Geneseo substations. If you are without power, please check your breakers and reset if necessary. If you are still without power, please report your outage by calling 800-858-5522. Thank you!

Jo-Carroll Energy President and CEO accepts new position

Today, Jo-Carroll Energy President and CEO Michael Hastings announced he is resigning to take a new position as President and CEO of Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative in Mt. Crawford, Va. on August 1, 2016.

Hastings has over 25 years of experience working for electric cooperatives. Raised on a Kansas farm, he first worked for the Kansas Electric Cooperatives' statewide association, then for the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives. He has served Jo-Carroll Energy since 2005.

Planned outage for Geneseo area

Two brief planned outages will take place on Monday and Tuesday, April 18-19 for Jo-Carroll Energy’s Geneseo area members.

Jo-Carroll Energy celebrates Natural Gas Utility Workers’ Day

Jo-Carroll Energy will observe Natural Gas Utility Workers’ Day on Friday, March 18. This is the first year for the celebration that recognizes workers at natural gas utilities.

This nationwide event is intended to build public awareness about the work done by the employees of natural gas utilities. March 18 is the date of the New London, Texas school explosion in 1937 that led to the widespread odorization of natural gas and increased emphasis on safety.

Jo-Carroll Energy announces pilot projects for fiber-to-the-premise

Jo-Carroll Energy president and CEO Michael Hastings has announced the cooperative's Sand Prairie internet service is undertaking two fiber-to-the-premise pilot projects.

"We are excited to announce we'll be breaking ground on two fiber pilot projects," Hastings said. "Two diverse areas were chosen for these projects, one in the downtown Galena area and the other in a mostly residential area of Savanna."

Crews respond to outage in East Dubuque area - Feb. 18

Update: Crews determined that the outage affecting members in East Dubuque on Feb. 18 was weather related with high winds contributing. Service to members was restored at 4:20 p.m. by backfeeding from the East Dubuque Substation. The Frentress Lake substation was restored at about 5 p.m.

Jo-Carroll Energy line crews are en route to investigate an outage in the East Dubuque area. The outage is affecting members served by the cooperative’s Frentress Lake Substation.

Jo-Carroll Energy warns of possible scam targeting members

Jo-Carroll Energy is warning its members and the general public about an apparent scammer who claims a payment is needed or electrical service will be shut off.

Outages reported in Geneseo, Galena areas


As crews in Jo-Carroll Energy's southern territory continue to restore power in the Geneseo area, reports of outages in the Galena area are being investigated. Crews are en route to reported outages in the rural Galena area.
